INITIAL BALANCE

Bedin and Bedina are picking hazel nuts in the forest.

DISRUPTING EVENTS

It is late, so brother and sister should go home. Bedin doesn’t want to go home yet, because he also wants to have a bag full of hazel nuts.

OBSTACLES / HELP

The wolf appears, but he doesn’t want to eat Bedin, like Bedina has ordered him. She sends for the stick to beat the wolf, but the stick doesn’t do what Bedina says. She sends for the fire to burn the stick, but the fire disobeys. Then she sends for water, to put out the fire, but there isn’t any. She sends for the ox, but he isn’t thirsty, so he doesn’t drink the water. Bedina wants the butcher to slay the ox, but the butcher doesn’t want to kill the ox. Then she tells the ropes to hang the butcher, but they disobey too. Then Bedina says to mice to gnaw through the ropes, but the mice also disobey. But when Bedina calls the cats, they immediately come to catch the mice.

FINAL BATTLE

When the cats come, they catch the mice. The mice run to gnaw through the ropes. The ropes are frightened, so they hurry to hang up the butcher. But he hurries to kill ox, which hurries to drink the water, which puts out the fire which burns the stick, the stick hurries to beat up the wolf and the wolf runs after Bedin.
